Talanta Stadium to be completed in December 2025- President Ruto

The 60,000-seater facility designed to host football and rugby matches specifically is scheduled for completion in December this year
President William Ruto says he's satisfied with the progress of the ongoing construction of the Talanta Stadium.
He has also suggested that a rail service might be built to supplement the transport solutions outside and around the stadium.
Following a visit to the facility based along Nairobi's Ngong Road, the President noted that the stadium is also providing employment opportunities for thousands of youth.
The 60,000-seater facility designed to host football and rugby matches, is scheduled for completion in December this year, in time for the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2027 that will be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.
The President said 3,300 workers have been hired to work at the stadium, with 2,000 working during the day, while 1,300 are engaged at night in the 60,000-seater facility.
"I am happy with the progress being made, and the contractor says that they will be ready by December this year," he said during the tour Friday.
"With this pace, the Talanta Sports City, with a football pitch inside while outside the stadium is an athletic field and rugby training grounds, will be ready by December 2025. We are looking forward to this being a facility that will aid our athletes to become competitive," he added.
On Thursday, during a Parliamentary session, Defence Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya revealed that the government will spend Sh44.7 billion to construct the stadium.
The construction of the stadium is aided and overseen by the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF).
